Location Hacking : How to Shoot maternity photos in your house. So what do you do when your sister wants some maternity photos but its 10 degrees outside? You shoot in her home! She just wanted a few photos so it was a simple quick little shoot in her home. After doing a tour of the house I found basically one simple clean area to use which was this open hallway to utilize as a framing and visual element and the nursery. Her nursery wasn’t decorated yet so there was an open pale pink wall with decent window light so we used that space. The key is to find a clean visual element and simplify the composition to focus on just that space. The other thing you can do is look for mirrors and frames to add some structural visual interest to your composition. I used the same window light and pink wall but shot from down the hall to create a framed composition. My favorite shot came from utilizing the artwork on the wall outside the nursery as a foreground element that added to the story with its message and then having Megan in the background.
